Hello and welcome back to my blog, as you can tell from the title we’re going to be featuring business women who started their own small business and sharing their success today. After seeing a couple of brands I admire on Instagram I decided to reach out to the women behind the business to see if they would be interested in sharing their stories. By sharing these glorious stories I can only hope it helped inspire someone else who wanted to start a business but had no idea where to start.
Let’s meet Jade, who runs her own small business while attending college full-time and working full-time. First off, that’s amazing that she is juggling all three, we love a successful woman working and supporting herself to accomplish her own dreams. Be sure to follow her on Instagram @BeautyBasicsOffical. Let’s get right into it and see what we can learn from her.
How did you come up with your idea for your business?
I always wanted my own brand but I always struggled as to what was most “me”. After falling in love with doing my own nails as a teen & always moaning that salons cost too much or that cheap press ons weren’t high enough quality, I decided to research into the nail market to find gaps & see what was missing & that’s how I came up with Beauty Basics.
How did you start your business?
TONNNNNS of research, lots of tears & hours of self doubt.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned since starting your business?
Always double and triple check with manufacturers on dimensions, ask for photos. Check again. I ordered 600 custom nail boxes and they were made in mm not cm, it was an expensive lesson.
Below are a few amazing designs from Beauty Basics Official as designed by Jade herself. These designs are not only pretty but intricate and custom orders can be made!
What advice do you have for someone who is interested in starting a business?
RESEARCH!! What are your competitors doing well? What aren’t they doing well? How can you be better than them? Make sure you are prepared for a 24/7 commitment, you will be fulfillment, customer service, procurement, marketing. The hustle never stops.
What has been the biggest challenge in your entrepreneurship journey?
Dealing with self doubt, you make all the key decisions for your brand, there is nobody to fall back on if you aren’t sure. You have to learn how to be confident in your own decisions & for me that was really difficult.
Do you have any favorite brands from business women that you admire and would like to give a shoutout to and why?
LOADS! Be sure to check out Jade’s recommendation! @fsobx – Brow Queen, she has taken years to master her craft. Seeing her vision come to light was so empowering.
A special thank you to Jade from Beauty Basics for working with us on this collaboration.
